The Backrow Brothers
The Backrow Brothers- 8.29.26
The Backrow Brothers are a musical duo combining the spirit of Appalachia and the soul of the Western Plains into a tasteful balance of tight harmonies and timeless original lyrics. Drawing their roots from a wide variety of genres such as bluegrass, country, pop, jazz, rock, and gospel, they’re propelling tradition into the next generation while building a new style all their own. Composed of Josh Dean on guitar and Braxton Rogers on banjo, the pair met on the streets of Gatlinburg and began harnessing their passion for the music. They soon found themselves on the ‘backrow’ of industry norms, and decided to carve their own path in the name of doing what they love most: entertaining you, the listener.

Jessamyn Rains
Jessamyn Rains- 8.28.26
Jessamyn learned to be a musician in Central Illinois. She had many teachers: a decrepit old lady who played eleven instruments; a chain smoking jazz drummer; a few heavy metal guitar guys; a stressed-out band director or two; and, of course, some church ladies with tight perms in red culottes. And then there was the guy who started the whole thing—her dad—a phenomenally talented pianist who, in midlife, exchanged his long black shiny grand piano for a Yamaha keyboard and some really loud speakers.
Growing up, Jessamyn found music to be a source of both pain and elation: She played drums in the school marching band, which means that in junior high she walked down the streets of her hometown in navy polyester bell bottoms and a hat with a big feather plume (pain), while completely rocking out on the tri-toms (elation).
Jessamyn found her “True North,” as they say, when she began writing poetry in high school, and a couple of years later, when she began writing songs. Like many who aspire to write and create, she was chasing after beauty, expression, and truth. An outlet for all that Midwestern pain and elation. An attempt to capture discrete moments and convey something true via the juxtaposition of them. This is why she calls her music Folk Impressionism.
"I’ve been writing songs for years now, and not much has changed," Jessamyn said. "I am still looking for the right words, still chasing after that elusive melody." And though she no longer takes formal lessons, she said she still has many and varied teachers: the local blues musicians who play in smokeless bars; the classic rock guys gigging out in small towns; the church choirs; the chanting monks and nuns; the odd German society accordion player; and, most recently, a group of Rwandese immigrants, singing and dancing their hearts out at a Sunday night church service.
"The gift of music is everywhere," Jessamyn said, "and it is for everyone.

Joe Lee Stevens
Joe Lee Stevens- 7.11.26
Joe Lee Stevens grew up in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains in Knoxville, Tennessee. (Go Vols!) He was immersed in music from his earliest days, growing up on Ricky Skaggs and Dolly Parton in a God-fearing, musically gifted family. By the age of five, Joe Lee was picking out melodies on the piano, humming harmony lines, and learning drum rhythms from his Dad. His love for music grew with each new instrument he picked up.
While majoring in vocal performance in college, Joe Lee started playing music professionally and decided to move to Nashville to further his career. He was blessed with opportunities to tour nationally with dozens of artists, playing everything from Nascar races to the Grand Ole Opry. Throughout the years he has served his local church as a worship leader and has written hundreds of songs in the country, gospel, and bluegrass genres.
Joe Lee’s music endeavors eventually lead him back home to the Smokies when his focus shifted from being a touring multi-instrumentalist to a family man and country music artist. For the past four years, he has been performing full-time locally in the Smoky Mountain area at many of the top attractions including Dollywood, Ole Red, and Jason Aldean’s. Joe Lee is known for his infectious energy, quick wit, and deep love for the people he meets. Paired with music we all know and love, his original songs are a blend of heart, humor, and storytelling. He aims to make every performance feel like a conversation with an old friend, providing a lighthearted and energetic experience that will make you laugh and want to sing along.
Joe Lee's most important job is at home, where he lives with his beautiful wife and four boys. Their self-proclaimed "Stevens Circus" is full of energy, joy, and a little chaos but he wouldn't trade it for the world. Being able to live in the Smokies and play music full time but still get to be home with his family every day is a dream come true. When he's not busy making music or leading the circus on a fun family adventure, you can probably find him cuddling with his wife or pouring fresh ground coffee over ice for the first or fourth time that day.

Couldn’t Be Happiers
Couldn’t Be Happiers- 6.12.26
Jodi Hildebran Lee and Jordan Crosby Lee are both law school graduates, but they didn’t meet in a courtroom.
They first met in Winston-Salem in 2013 at an old-time music circle that gathered once a month to share music, food, and company to decompress from the rigors of ordinary life. A career opportunity sent Jordan to Texas and separated the two friends until they serendipitously reconnected a year later. This new connection was different, and it was strong. So strong that Jordan packed up his dog and guitar and left both Texas and the practice of law for a life of music with Jodi in North Carolina.
Now they’ve got four dogs and a band together, and they couldn’t be happier.
The name says it all. Energetic and quirky, Couldn't Be Happiers is an award-winning folk-rock/Americana duo that enjoys every moment of their second chance at happiness. And it’s pretty damn contagious. Described by Doug Davis of Flytrap Studios as “Violent Femmes meets Johnny and June,” this married songwriting duo joyfully blends rock, pop, bluegrass, and folk into a sound that is uniquely their own.
The CBH songbook includes stories about the obsessive drive of a Bigfoot hunter, the life cycle of a plastic bag, the end of the world from global warming, the untold perspective of the first woman hanged in North Carolina, and the acrobatic feats of strength performed by a Cajun burglar feeding his gambling habit.
But aside from the stories, what you’ll notice first is the voices — and in particular the beautiful homespun harmonies. Those voices will take you from church to holler to Opry and back again all in one song, thanks to the exhilarating power of Jodi’s vocals and the smoothly classic twang of Jordan’s. With Jodi on drums and harmonica, and Jordan on guitar, Couldn’t Be Happiers roll out an incredible sound, a set of great original songs, and a live show that all but dares you not to enjoy yourself.

Nettie & The Delta Boy
Nettie & The Delta Boy- 6.6.26
Nashville-based duo Nettie and The Delta Boy meld the soulful strains of Delta Blues with the timeless storytelling of American folk ballads. Nettie Freed’s lyrics weave tales of heartbreak and raw, poetic emotion, while Daryl Hill’s guitar resonates with the profound depths of Southern soul. Inspired by the lyrical mastery of Bob Dylan and Townes Van Zandt, and the emotive power of Bessie Smith and Nanci Griffith, their music harmonizes the elegance of Eagles with the rugged spirit of Outlaw Country.
This group crafts a poignant original sound and setlist that captures the essence of each note, making every performance a deeply felt poetic exploration. Additionally, their set includes uniquely arranged covers that breathe new life into traditional country, American folk blues, and the timeless sounds of a bygone era, ensuring a rich and varied music experience.
